(Vancouver, BC) ~ Singer, songwriter, and recording artist Nat Jay is thrilled to announce the release of her acoustic EP, Quiet Dreams, on iTunes Tuesday, September 8. This release marks one year since the release of her highly acclaimed debut full-length, All I Think When I Wake Up, which is up for Pop Album of the Year at the 2015 Western Canadian Music Awards the following week.
 
To celebrate this latest contribution to her growing catalogue, Nat Jay will host an album release party on Saturday, September 12 at the Rickshaw Theatre in historic Chinatown at 8:00pm. Advance tickets are now available online at www.rickshawtheatre.com or at the venue the night of the performance.  Ticket prices are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
 
Nat Jay will perform two sets at this unique show – one acoustic set with guitar and strings, and one full band set. The opener for the evening will be local buzz artist Jasper Sloan Yip, who is fresh off appearances at the Vancouver Folk Festival, Arts Wells, and the Tiny Lights Festival.
 
Recorded in Vancouver at FaderMountain Sound with long-time collaborator and producer Winston Hauschild, Quiet Dreams showcases several heavyweights, including Gretsch Guitar artist, Paul Pigat (Jakob Dylan, Neko Case), and a duet with Hey Ocean! lead singer, Ashleigh Ball (“Something This Way Comes”). Also highlighted are string players Caitlin Grieve (Cairo) and Doug Gorkoff (Black Dog Quartet). Quiet Dreams has already received international recognition with placements on Channel 7’s popular TV show Winners & Losers in Australia. Intended as a tribute to Nat Jay’s nominated full-length, the EP contains two acoustic—and very different—versions of tracks from All I Think When I Wake Up, as well as the artist’s first ever cover release, a touching guitar and vocal rendition of Pat Benatar’s “We Belong.”
 
“There’s an intimacy in an acoustic performance that can be extremely moving for the audience, and as a listener, this has always been my favourite kind of music to experience,” say Jay. “It was exciting to see these songs come to life in such a quiet and simple setting. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I was lucky to be joined by some amazing guests on the album, who helped bring out the character of each song.”
 
Since the release of her debut EP Lights Across the Sky in 2008, Nat Jay has shared the stage with Canada’s own two-time JUNO Award winner Dan Mangan, Matthew Barber, Oh Susanna, and Justin Rutledge, as well as New York City’s Jay Brannan and Australia’s folk-blues group, Angus & Julia Stone.
 
Nat Jay’s compelling and highly accomplished vocal delivery has been compared with such powerful performers as Joni Mitchell, Patsy Cline, and the Dixie Chicks.  Her emotive songwriting ability has earned her a BCCMA nomination for SOCAN Songwriter of the Year, an appearance as a featured songwriter at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, and a guest spot on CBC Radio 2’s “Canada Live.” Most recently, Jay earned a co-writing credit with the legendary Stephen Bishop for the song “Loveless” from his 2014 album Be Here Then, and All I Think When I Wake Up was named in PopDose’s Top 10 Pop Albums of 2014, touting her as “the pop revelation of the year.”
